Indianapolis Childrens Museum

SYNLawn® Indiana Transforms the Indianapolis Children’s Museum

When responding to the fight against childhood and adult obesity, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum chose SYNLawn® Indiana to help enhance their health and fitness exhibit! Using our highest quality and most durable artificial grass, sport surface tiles, and pour-in-place rubber surfacing, we were able to bring new life to the museum and do our part to help fight the good fight! The Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience, a 7.5-acre, $38.5 million exhibit at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis was designed with SYNLawn® eco-friendly and plant-based products stretched across 1.4-acres of land.

“The selection of SYNLawn® artificial grass for this project was critical because of the need to provide the most lifelike, all-weather playing environment that could also blend in with the natural landscape.”

Dr. Jeffrey Patchen, Museum President, and CEO

The Indianapolis Children’s Museum features four outdoor sports experiences with cutting-edge products from SYNLawn®:

The museum is committed to sculpting healthy bodies and minds through education and fun, creating activities that adults and kids of all ages can enjoy. Having a healthy body and mind will shape a healthier future for not only ourselves but for future generations. The Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience is an exceptional example of that commitment.

“We are excited to see our renewable, plant-based products contribute to such a globally recognized project,” said George Neagle, Executive Vice President, SYNLawn®

SYNLawn® artificial grass is a testament to environmental sustainability. For more than 25 years, we have paved the way for eco-friendly advancements in our products. As a result, we became the first company to offer a sizable list of USDA-certified products. These products are highlighted for their 70% plus of bio-based contents. Recyclable materials such as soybean oil and sugar cane are used in order to remove large amounts of petroleum from our manufacturing process. In doing this, we are able to reduce carbon emissions while making our products and eliminate the need for lawn equipment for maintenance, thus, cutting down carbon footprint with the help of our ecologically conscious customers.

During the second phase, the SYNLawn® Indiana team was asked to resurface their hockey rink as well as a running/walking track for the Children’s Museum visitors in the second phase of the museum’s design utilizing the following:

  • For the track, 27,700 square feet of SYNPour™ in the Museum’s colors of green, blue, and orange were used.
  • The rink features a 2,500 square foot SYNCourt™ sport surface tile system with a customized Indy Fuel logo, a local young hockey club.

SYNLawn® Indiana replaced the old concrete design of the hockey rink that was notorious for unpredictable and bumpy gameplay. We implemented our exclusive SYNCourt™ tile technology to provide a more reliable smooth flow on the rink surface. Thanks to SYNLawn® Indiana’s efforts, the museum’s one million plus annual visitors now have an all-weather playing experience that blends in with the natural terrain.

SYNLawn® Indiana works closely with industry experts to create environments that implement the latest in artificial grass technology and eco-friendly materials.
